How to Get Published in The Conversation
Ìýis an independent and nonprofit source of news, analysis and commentary thatÌýpublishes short articles (800-1,000 words) by academic experts on timely topics related toÌýtheir research.
How it works
Faculty members submit brief “pitchesâ€ for possible stories toÌýTheÌýConversationÌýeditors, in response to topic-specific requests, or proactively to share research, scholarship or creative work of interest toÌýtheÌýpublic. Pitches can be made directly to editors through a simple online form, or with facilitation from a campus communication partner from a school, college, institute orÌýtheÌýcampus level.Ìý
Once a pitch is accepted, faculty collaborate directly with editors fromÌýTheÌýConversationÌýto develop an article. Once complete,ÌýtheÌýpiece is published inÌýtheÌýonline edition ofÌýTheÌýConversation, included inÌýtheÌýoutlet’s outbound emails and made available to a network of potential republishers. CU °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï also shares content by its authors through appropriate campus channels, includingÌýCU °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï Today, e-newsletters and social media.Ìý
In addition toÌýtheÌýmeasurable visibility through readership ofÌýTheÌýConversationÌýand its network of republishers,Ìýauthors report significant increasesÌýin requests for further academic collaborations, support for current or future grants or funding support, citations for scholarly articles, influence on policy by decision-makers and requests for media interviews (radio, print and TV).Ìý
