Participate in a half-day (five-hour) training covering the fundamentals of the CU Restorative Justice (CURJ) program on Oct. 2. The training prepares participants to serve as CURJ community representative volunteers and build confidence in restorative justice practices. These volunteers support students through accountability, harm repair and relationship building while representing community voices and needs.

For those interested in deepening their practice, this training also serves as the first step in the CURJ Facilitator program, a 30-hour training designed to develop restorative justice facilitation skills, expand knowledge of restorative practices and connect participants with the broader restorative justice community. Participants gain hands-on facilitation experience with support from a cohort of trainees and professional staff. The program timeline is individualized and is typically completed over the course of a semester. Learn more about the CURJ Facilitator program in the program overview.

Open to students, staff, faculty and community members interested in learning the fundamentals of restorative justice and supporting the CURJ program. Please by Sept. 11.

CU Emergency Medical Services is offering both CPR and Stop the Bleed courses for the CU °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï community. 

The American Heart Association Basic Life Support course trains participants to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide high-quality CPR, use an AED and deliver effective ventilation for adults, children and infants in both in- and out-of-hospital settings.

The American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed course teaches attendees how to identify and stop life-threatening bleeding through the use of tourniquets, wound packing and direct pressure.

Effective July 1, the (APS 5015) was updated to strengthen protections, clarify disclosure requirements and better define how consensual relationships differ from conduct covered under APS 5014. Faculty and staff are encouraged to review the updated policy and contact OIEC with questions.

The College of Music's Piano Pedagogy intern program has a few spots open for beginner piano lessons this semester. 

The program includes nine 45-minute supervised lessons with a junior or senior piano major enrolled in Piano Pedagogy 1. Lessons are open for adults and children ages 6 or older who are absolute beginners at the piano. Total cost of the lessons this semester is $100. Children must have an instrument (acoustic or digital) at home for practice. Adults who have a Buff OneCard may use the piano lab during open hours for practicing.

The recently released teaser for CU °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï's 150th anniversary documentary film is now available with audio description. 

A video with audio description has a secondary audio track that describes meaningful visual content during the pauses in the original audio track. Audio description helps to ensure video content is accessible and that all viewers can access important visual information. 

How to watch with audio description

  1. Navigate to Settings (the gear icon) in the Vimeo video controls. 

  2. Under the Audio option, switch the track from Original Audio to English (Audio Descriptions).

The CU °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï Sustainability Research Initiative is pleased to announce the inaugural Sustainability Research Summit, a major convening of CU °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï researchers across disciplines and academic units to shine a light on the diversity and depth of sustainability research across campus. 

Free and open to the public, the summit aims to foster collaboration among researchers and connect university research to external partners across the Front Range community and beyond. The summit will serve as an opportunity for the campus community to step outside their disciplinary and academic homes, learn from colleagues and forge connections with the broader community. 

Please mark your calendars for Oct. 8–9 at the University Memorial Center. , welcoming community members and external partners to explore CU °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï’s sustainability research landscape, share their work, connect with colleagues and contribute to meaningful, forward‑looking collaborations. 

The purpose of this study is to examine circadian rhythms in the home environment under three different lighting conditions: typical home lighting, candlelight and outdoor sunlight in the morning. The findings will provide important insights into how circadian rhythms can be measured outside of the laboratory and how morning light exposure influences circadian hormones. 

CU °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï researchers are looking for men and women, ages 18–65, to participate in an at-home monitoring research study that lasts approximately one week, with a total of two short visits at the Sleep and Chronobiology Laboratory. Compensation is up to $180.

Do you have trouble falling asleep before 1 a.m.? Do you find it difficult to wake up early in the morning for your commitments? Does your high schooler have a hard time falling asleep before 1 a.m. and waking up early in the morning/for high school? 

The Sleep and Chronobiology Laboratory is looking for people with delayed sleep-wake phase disorder or people with late bedtimes—or healthy people with typical bedtimes. 

Eligibility

Researchers are looking for males and females, ages 16–40, to participate in a 6.5-weeklong study with six in-person visits. You may be eligible for this study if you:

  • Have a diagnosis of delayed-sleep wake phase disorder or have late bedtimes after 1 a.m., an inability to fall asleep and difficulty awakening when required for school/work
  • Or are healthy with typical bedtimes and no sleep concerns 

What should you expect during the study? 

  • Health screening
  • Monitor on separate occasions your sleep, mood, eating times for one or two weeks and blood sugar levels while living at home
  • Live in the sleep laboratory on two separate occasions for 51–66 hours (approximately 4.87 days in total) 
  • Blood and saliva sampling 
  • A few blood samples and more frequent saliva sampling 
  • Testing on reaction time, mood and ability to think

During Fall Welcome, the Buff Bus will be running an expanded schedule to accommodate all the special events happening around campus. Special Buff Buses will run Aug. 14–21 to help students get to and from move-in and Fall Welcome events.

Students who purchase used furniture from the showroom will receive free delivery. In many cases, the company can also remove and responsibly dispose of old couches or other items at no additional cost. The effort aims to provide students with an affordable and sustainable way to furnish homes, while helping keep unwanted furniture off °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï streets during move-in season.
