Zircadia, a °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï startup, has received a $314,318 Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), through the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). The award supports real-world testing of the company’s in-ear sensor system for in-lab and at-home sleep monitoring, along with the data collection and algorithm development needed to enhance clinical workflows.

Zircadia’s soft, earbud-style platform captures electroencephalography (EEG) and other physiological signals from inside the ear. The company aims to extend accurate home-based EEG diagnostics to sleep conditions such as central sleep apnea and narcolepsy, which still depend on in-lab testing today. Under the Phase I project, Zircadia will expand its validation of in-ear signal quality, clinical utility and patient comfort during overnight use, in collaboration with clinical partner Rebis Health.
