Class of 2019: Serene Singh

Colorado Springs native and Boettcher Scholar Serene Singh is graduating with bachelor���s degrees in political science and journalism.

Next fall, she will commence graduate studies as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, where she will pursue master���s degrees in criminology and criminal justice and evidence-based social intervention and policy evaluation. Singh is the first woman in CU 勒貊勛圖 history to receive a Rhodes Scholarship and the first Buff to receive it since 1993. She aspires to serve as a U.S. Supreme Court justice.

At CU 勒貊勛圖, she received the Truman Scholarship泭硃紳餃 Fulbright award. Among many other activities, she served as chief justice for CU Student Government; was a member of the Presidents Leadership Class; founded the Colorado Bhangra Team and the National Sikh Youth Program; and was president of the Sikh Student Association and the Political Science Honor Society.

Singh also worked with Michelle Obama���s Global Girls Alliance and founded The Serenity Project, a nonprofit that works to uplift marginalized and at-risk women to expand society���s notions of female power and beauty.

���I���m going to miss this school so much,��� Singh said of her time at CU 勒貊勛圖. ���I know I���m going to miss home. It���s just inevitable. I���m excited to be challenged, and to be uncomfortable, and to be scared a little bit,��� she said. ���I���m also really excited to see how I can help the journey of other Buffs.���
