Experiencing grief can be an overwhelming experience and is often confusing and frightening.

Although bereavement can be quite painful, it is not a sickness or abnormal condition. It is not something to be “curedâ€ or “fixed.â€ÌýRather, it is part of the natural human response to losing someone close to us—the cost of loving and being loved.

The Ìýhas organized aÌýgrief support group for those who are recently bereaved or areÌýjust beginning the grief process. Interested participants will meet once a weekÌýin a group setting starting Tuesday, May 30.

Sessions will provide information about grief, support for members toÌýdetermine their own needs and coping skillsÌýas well as time to share experiences with the group.ÌýHandouts will provide additional information that participants can share with others.

Licensed staff counselorÌýÌýwill facilitate the group process, providing information and understanding in a safe, supportive and accepting environment.

Interested participants must register for all eight sessions in advance.ÌýPleaseÌýemail connie.north@colorado.eduÌýfor more information or to sign up.
