The CU Museum of Natural History and CU Facilities Management – Outdoor Services will once again be hosting their popular Fall Color Tree Walk! While participants experience the splendor of an evening walk, expert guide and arborist Vince Aquino, will share the distinctive characteristics, and historical significance of the various trees on CU’s main campus. Tours will start at 5pm at the CU Museum's South Doors.

Stick around afterward because CU Libraries are capping off each day in October with Shine on Norlin an incredible anniversary light show on Norlin Quad!

Tours and light show are free, pre-registration is requested. Any last minute changes (due to weather, etc.) will be sent to registrants.

Please note that there is no public parking available south of the CU Museum. Visitors can use street parking on The Hill or paid spots are generally available at the Limelight Hotel or CU's Euclid Autopark.

Campus Collaboration Earns National Climate Action Recognition Nancy Portner Wed, 10/07/2026 - 14:36

CU �Ǹ�Թ� has been recognized for its leadership in sustainability, receiving an inaugural Climate Action Milestone from Second Nature for its efforts to better understand and reduce indirect greenhouse gas emissions across campus operations.

The recognition highlights work connected to purchasing, travel, commuting, construction, food systems and waste reduction, all areas where collaboration across departments is helping advance CU �Ǹ�Թ�'s climate commitments.

The award was made possible through the efforts of sustainability professionals, student interns and campus partners who contributed data, tracked emissions and helped support the university's application. Among those recognized for their contributions were BFI's Josh Radoff, Ed VonBleichert, and Clark Rider, who were acknowledged by Vice Chancellor for Sustainability Andrew Mayock for their role in supporting the initiative.

"This recognition is meaningful, but what matters even more is the impact we are having together to advance sustainability at CU �Ǹ�Թ�," Mayock shared in a message to campus partners.

The recognition reflects the collective work happening across campus every day to integrate sustainability into operations and decision-making. It also underscores the important role that teams throughout Business, Finance and Infrastructure play in helping CU �Ǹ�Թ� meet its climate and sustainability goals.

Congratulations to Josh, Ed and Clark, and all of the campus partners whose dedication and collaboration helped make this achievement possible.

CU �Ǹ�Թ� recently received an inaugural Climate Action Milestone from Second Nature. Infrastructure and Resilience will be hosting our winter employee appreciation luncheon on Wednesday, December 16^th. As always, we will be announcing our employee annual award winners. If you have noticed I&R employees working to make the campus a better place to work, study, or visit, please consider submitting a nomination for one of several awards described in the link below. Individual staff winners will receive a plaque and a $100 Visa gift card. Student winners will receive a certificate and $50 Visa gift card. Team winners will each receive a Dining Services meal card for a celebratory meal together.

And we will all enjoy a delicious lunch and a few hours together.

Nominations are due by 5pm on Monday, October 19.

BFI Employees Pursue GEDs with Help from Fellow Mentors Nancy Portner Mon, 10/05/2026 - 10:32

A new partnership between Business, Finance and Infrastructure (BFI) and Aims Community College is helping staff members take an important step toward achieving their educational goals.

Through the program, nine BFI employees are currently working toward earning their GED, supported by nine volunteer mentors from the BFI Mentor Program. Together, participants and mentors are building connections, sharing encouragement, and creating a supportive environment for learning and growth.

The partnership reflects BFI's commitment to investing in our people and creating opportunities for professional and personal development. While earning a GED is a significant milestone, the program is about more than education. It's about confidence, persistence, and helping colleagues reach goals they may have postponed while balancing work, family, and other responsibilities.

We're grateful to the mentors who have volunteered their time and support, and we're excited to cheer on these employees as they continue their journey toward earning their GED.

Congratulations to all 18 participants for being part of this inspiring effort. We look forward to celebrating future successes together.

CU Recharge Coming to East Campus

We are excited to share that CU Recharge will be coming to the garden level of ARCE later this fall, with installation currently anticipated in November.

CU Recharge brings convenient, workplace-based strength training to faculty and staff through EGYM smart fitness equipment. Workouts take less than 10 minutes, can be completed in work clothes, and are free to use. Employee Health and Well-being and Infrastructure and Resilience have partnered to bring this additional CU Recharge location to East Campus.

To help employees be ready when the equipment arrives, Hannah Rosebraugh from EGYM is offering one-on-one onboarding sessions at the CASE building. During onboarding, participants will set up their accounts and learn how to use the equipment so they can begin using Recharge as soon as the ARCE site opens.

Employees are encouraged to use CU's free Buff Ride service for transportation between East Campus and the CASE building on Main Campus. Advance reservations can be made through Buff Ride. Learn more about Buff Ride here.

Fall is here, which means cold and flu season is, too. Boost your well-being with a free flu vaccine – all CU �Ǹ�Թ� staff and faculty are eligible. Join Employee Health and Well-Being and Medical Services at any of our pop-up vaccine clinics for faculty and staff. Registration is recommended but not required, as vaccines will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note these pop-ups are only available to full-time faculty and staff. Students can schedule an appointment through their health portal.
