Dr. Vanessa Santiago Schwarz is an Associate Teaching Professor in Equity, Bilingualism and Biliteracy at the °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï School of Education. She teaches courses in culturally sustaining pedagogy, bilingual education, dis/ability and inclusive practice, and family and community engagement. She also leads a global seminar in San Pancho, Mexico, focused on community-engaged learning and culturally affirming educational practices.

A former bilingual special education teacher in New York City, Dr. Santiago Schwarz brings her years of elementary classroom experience to her teaching and scholarship. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Equity and Cultural Diversity from CU °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï, where her dissertation examined the special education process at a dual-language elementary school.
