The Rehearsal Artist

NOW — January 2018Ìý
In “The Rehearsal Artist,â€ a new work by CU °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï dance professor Michelle Ellsworth, the artist rotates inside an eight-foot-diameter wooden wheel. The audience sees only her head, encased in a box with an assortment of loose items — dolls, food, tiny furniture, plants. Ellsworth is fixed in position, but the objects all move, prompting reflection about “the nature of stability.â€
The New York Times proclaimed the work, performed at the American Realness festival in New York in January, “eccentric and marvelously original.
