Alan S. KahanÌýis the visiting scholar in conservative thought and policy for the 2021-22 academic year and host of the "Capitalism and Ethics" series.ÌýKahan, a historian, political theorist and author, is professor of British Civilization at the Université de Paris-Saclay.ÌýKahan is the author ofÌýÌý(Oxford, 1992);Ìý;ÌýÌýPalgrave, 2003);ÌýÌý(Transaction, 2010, Routledge 2017); andÌýÌý(Oxford, 2015).ÌýHe is also the translator ofÌýAlexis de Tocqueville, The Old Regime and the RevolutionÌý(Chicago, 2 vols. 1998, 2001) and Benjamin Constant’sÌýCommentary on Filangieri's WorksÌý(Liberty Fund, 2015).ÌýHe is currently working onÌýLiberalism – An Incomplete History, which will be published by Princeton University Press.ÌýKahan has lived in France since 2007.
